Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Visitors:

Hello and welcome to our school website!

I am proud to share that Parish Hill is the 31st ranked public high school out of 206 high schools in the state of Connecticut as determined by US News and World Report. Furthermore, Parish Hill is rated as the 2nd best high school in Northeast Connecticut and is the 9th ranked public high school in the Worcester metro region which includes portions of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Additionally, Niche.com rates Parish Hill as having the highest ranked teachers in all of Windham County! These rankings are based on student access to Advanced Placement courses, performance on required state assessments, graduation rate, and college and career preparedness. This remarkable accomplishment is the result of hard work and dedication by our school community and is a great source of pride for the towns of Chaplin, Hampton, and Scotland.

Parish Hill has a strong Parent-Teacher-Student-Association (PHACT-PTSA) that engages parents and community members in decision-making opportunities and promotes all that is exceptional about Parish Hill. Our PHACT-PTSA is instrumental in providing vital feedback on programs and curricular initiatives that meet the most current needs of our students and community. Over the past five years, Parish Hill staff were awarded numerous Connecticut Parent Teacher Association awards that include Superintendent, High School Principal, Middle School Principal, Assistant Principal, and High School and Middle School Teacher of the Year Awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the school and community. Parish Hill is most proud to be named a National Parent Teacher Association School of Excellence for a second consecutive term; a most extraordinary accomplishment!

Parish Hill offers students a comprehensive curriculum featuring Advanced Placement classes in Biology, Computer Science, US History, Statistics, Calculus AB, English Literature, English Language, Spanish, Art 2 and 3 Dimensional Design, Environmental Science and Music Theory in addition to offering Allied Health, Art, Business, Band, Chorus, Family and Consumer Science, Culinary, Health, Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Technology Education and World Languages. Parish Hill offers a variety of options for students to earn certificates and college credit through collaboration with the University of Connecticut, Eastern Connecticut State University and local community colleges. Our dedicated faculty collaborate to ensure our students find success, discover their unique passions, and develop talents. This team approach, in combination with great community support and commitment to our core values and beliefs, enables Parish Hill to function at a high level. In addition, Parish Hill has a 1:1 Chromebook program.

Despite challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Parish Hill extracurricular activities continue to excel. The majority of Parish Hill sports teams made post-season tournaments in the last seven years. Each year, Parish Hill has produced several Connecticut All-State athletes including a state champion bowler! Our band and chorus programs continue a tradition of success by taking gold and platinum ratings at regional music festivals. Our 2022 Empty Bowls event raised over four-thousand dollars to support local charities and food pantries, and was previously awarded the Connecticut State Department of Education/Connecticut Association of Schools Challenge to Educational Citizenship Award. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Parish Hill Robotics Club took first place in TSA VEX regional robotics competitions against schools from CT, MA, NH, NY, and RI. Experiences like these are but a few examples of how Parish Hill prepares students for 21st Century life in a small family-like environment.

Parish Hill accepts out of district students at a base tuition rate of $7900 a year, making Parish Hill an attractive choice for districts and families who are seeking a small/supportive high school to receive individualized services. Parish Hill universally screens all students to determine learning needs and employs data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress, identify students in need of support, and develop prescriptive programs. ELA, Math, and Enrichment labs service students in need of intervention and advance students who are at or above grade level. Featuring a small school setting with a low student-to-teacher ratio and a high graduation rate, the vast majority of students find success in post-secondary college, military, and career settings.

On behalf of the Parish Hill community, I look forward to working with you to make this a fantastic year!

Sincerely,

Brian Tedeschi
