Memory Project

This year advanced high school art students participated in “The Memory Project Portraits program”. Students created original art portraits for children, living in orphanages around the world. Given that children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or orphaned usually don’t have keepsakes, the purpose of the portraits is to provide them with a special memory of their youth, and to help honor their heritage and identity. The student works were composed by the students, using the medium of choice to best express the character and feeling of each orphan. The portraits were sent out in March to their new found friends in Uganda. Students will receive photos of their friends with holding our students works and possible inclusion of some of their art work or words of thanks.
