Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Guests:
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school website. Parish Hill offers a comprehensive curriculum featuring Advanced Placement classes in Biology, Computer Science, US History, Statistics, Calculus AB, English Literature, English Language, Spanish, French, Art 2 and 3 Dimensional Design, and Music Theory in addition to Allied Health, Art, Business, Family and Consumer Science, Culinary, Health, Language Arts, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, Technology Education and two World Languages. In addition to core academic programs, Parish Hill offers a variety of options for students to earn certificates and college credit through collaboration with the University of Connecticut and local community colleges.
Our dedicated faculty works together to ensure all students find success, discover passions, and develop talents. This team approach, in combination with community support and commitment to our core values and beliefs, enables Parish Hill to function at a high level. Through the collaborative efforts of our PHACT-PTA, Parish Hill staff proudly won 3 of 8 state wide recognitions through the Connecticut Parent-Teacher Association as follows: Genevieve Govoni 2018 Connecticut High School Teacher of the Year, Scott Yeo 2018 Connecticut Middle School Teacher of the Year, and Brian Tedeschi 2018 Connecticut Middle School Principal of the Year. All Parish Hill sports teams made post-season tournaments last year and our music programs continued its tradition of success at regional music festivals. Our 2018 Empty Bowls event raised over six-thousand dollars to support local charities and food pantries and was previously awarded the Connecticut State Department of Education/Connecticut Association of Schools Challenge to Educational Citizenship Award. In April of 2018, our Robotics Club took first place in a TSA VEX regional robotics competition against schools from CT, MA, NH, NY, and RI. Experiences like these are but a few examples of how Parish Hill prepares students for 21st Century life.
On behalf of the Parish Hill community, I look forward to meeting you at Open House on September 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the David Syme Auditorium to introduce our staff and briefly discuss the new school year. Have a great year!
